Sound Sultan’s widow Farida breaks silence a month after his death

Farida Fasasi says living without her husband has been the worst punishment life has thrown her way.

Farida Fasasi, the widow of the late music star Sound Sultan has for the first time broken her silence since his death.

The mother of three took to her Instagram page on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, where she penned an emotional note to her late husband.

“On the 11th of July 2021 my world went pitch black, its been a month and still I can see no color. It still feels like a bad dream… how is this my fate?. Living without you has to be the worst punishment life has thrown my way,” she wrote.

“My dear Aboo, my nights have been so long and cold since you left me. My sweet gentle husband, the love of my entire life, my world. Thank you for giving me the best of yourself for the past years. Our love was truly perfect and I am totally lost without you.”

She also used the opportunity to thank everyone who has supported her family since his death.⁣

“I have been told that this is the will of God but I’m still struggling with it. Lanre, I’m struggling daily!!… Time heals right??… Hmmm! I wish to use this medium to thank everyone for the immense support and all the kind words towards our family,” she added.

“I do not take this for granted. Lanre was truly the best guy and I count it a privilege to have shared my life with him. Let’s keep him alive in our hearts by letting love lead. Love is the only true religion and Lanre’s life is a perfect example.⁣”

The singer passed away on Sunday, July 11, at the age of 44.

The D’Tigers suffered a heavy defeat after the tributes for Sound Sultan.

Nigerian men’s basketball team paid tribute to late Nigerian singer Sound Sultan before their heavy defeat to Australia in a pre-Olympic game in the early hours on Wednesday, July 14, 2021.

Sound Sultan was a huge basketball enthusiast. He played in school and in 2015 acquired a stake in the Lagos Islanders, a Lagos-based basketball club founded in 1984.

He actively worked to promote the sport in Lagos and Nigeria. He died on Sunday, July 11, 2021, after a battle with cancer.

To pay their tribute, D’Tigers’ players filed out for their game against Australia with white shirts with Sound Sultan’s photo printed on the front of them.

The late singer’s name was also printed at the back of the shirts. There was also a moment of silence was held inside the arena in honour of the artist.

After the tribute, the D’Tigers, who have had two big wins against the United States and Argentina, were brought back to earth with a heavy defeat to the third-best team in the world, Australia.

Mike Brown’s side were blown away by a massive 39 points as the Aussies triumphed 108 -69.

Recall that in May, it was reported that the artiste was diagnosed with throat cancer in the United States.

He was said to have commenced chemotherapy in one of the hospitals in the country.

Sound Sultan, whose career in show business started in the 1990s, however, died two months later.

The versatile artist is survived by his wife, three children and siblings.
